Army Chief emphasizes CAFGUs’ strategic relevance in country’s defense
FORT BONIFACIO, Taguig City – Army Chief Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido emphasized the importance of CAFGU Active Auxiliary (CAA) units in the military’s overall shift to territorial defense during the second semester conference and workshop for Division Operations Officers and Division CAA Affairs Office (DCAO) Chiefs at the Headquarters Philippine Army, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City on December 10, 2024.
As force multipliers, CAA units are envisioned to play a crucial role in the conduct of territorial defense operations. CAA units, which are under the operational control of Philippine Army Infantry Divisions, are traditionally involved in the implementation of internal security campaigns at the countryside. They also serve as first responders in times of disasters and calamities.
“As part of the joint force, it is our mandate to defend the land from enemy intrusion. We intend to accomplish this task through preparation, in the matter of how we mobilize and sustain large-scale forces in a prolonged conflict,” the Army Commanding General remarked during the conference.
The workshop served as a platform to apprise Operations Officers and DCAO Chiefs on the thrusts, programs and operational directives from the level of the General Headquarters (GHQ). Participants also discussed the significant role of forces on territorial defense operations and how to strengthen the command’s capability in securing our country.
