Mindanao Railway Project Right of Way Acquisition Gets P1.7 Billion Boost

Davao del Norte – The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has reaffirmed progress on the long-awaited Mindanao Railway Project, as officials confirmed that P1.7 billion has been allocated for the acquisition of the Right of Way (ROW) for its Tagum-to-Digos alignment.

DOTr Assistant Secretary for Right of Way and Site Acquisition (ROWSA) IC Calaguas recently held a meeting with First District Davao del Norte Representative De Carlo “Oyo” Lim Uy to discuss updates and next steps in the implementation of the project’s ROW requirements.

Transportation Acting Secretary Giovanni Lopez earlier assured that ROW acquisition is already ongoing, paving the way for construction works to proceed in key areas.

The Mindanao Railway Project, considered one of the country’s most significant transport initiatives, is expected to transform connectivity and mobility in the region by providing faster, more efficient, and more affordable travel across major Mindanao cities.

Once completed, the railway will help decongest roads, reduce travel time, and spur economic growth in the southern Philippines.
